Ocucon and SeeChange Launch AI Solution that Prevents Slip and Fall Accidents
Ocucon, the Newcastle-based technology company, and SeeChange, a subsidiary of British tech giant Arm, is launching SpillDetect, a ground-breaking software solution developed to address the epidemic of slip, trip, and fall accidents.
SpillDetect, developed in partnership by Ocucon and SeeChange, is a world-first. SpillDetect uses AI with existing CCTV cameras to automatically detect liquid spills in stores and workplaces. Through using this pioneering solution, businesses can expect to massively reduce liability and mitigate the widespread risk of trips and slips.
The requirement for such a solution is huge. Slip, trip, and fall accidents are a massive problem for businesses worldwide. The UK government agency Health & Safety Executive estimates slips and trips cause over 220,000 workplace injuries a year in the UK alone, and lawyers estimate compensation claims for injuries can range from £24,500 ($34,000 USD) for a twisted ankle to over £90,000 ($125,000 USD) for a serious knee injury.
This AI recognition software will identify even the smallest liquid spills by analysing CCTV footage, and this will be relayed in real time though Ocucon’s user interface so that staff can be deployed to clear up the problem before people are injured. SpillDetect is a powerful solution that proactively protects businesses from personal injury claims.
